Program note: Symphony No. 2 "Orpheus"

Programme Note

Taken from themes from my 2019 opera Orpheus, this work is in 3 movements and follows the musical arch of the original opera. The first movement depicts the journey on the Argonaut and Calais’ Song (figure L), the second (figure R) deals with Eurydice’s death and journey to the underworld and the third (figure GG) with Orpheus coming to terms with the loss of both Eurydice and Calais, his death and his ascension by Zeus to becoming a star.
